Ben Sayers, believed to be the oldest golf equipment manufacturer in the world, was founded in Scotland, where the modern golf game was invented. A player himself, Ben Sayers established his business in 1873, making and repairing golf clubs in a shed at North Berwick Golf Club. Sayers played in the British Open Championships many times between 1880 and 1923 and even appeared at the American Open in 1914. He became a highly respected golf teacher, and instructed royalty on the game. His company eventually moved to a larger factory in North Berwick, from which he sold golf equipment around the world. The Ben Sayers & Son brand has been responsible for much golfing innovation through the years, including gutta-percha balls; the square-edged handgrip, Benny Putter; carbon-shafted clubs, and a specially commissioned putter for Jack Nicklaus. In our Ben Sayers brand store there are golf clubs and accessories for people who want high performance equipment in their hands when they take to the course.
