does a good job mid back area I am a little disappointed it doesn't carry on further up my back though. I am 5' 4" with longer leg than torso, the massage ends at armpit level or the bottom of shoulder blades so would not go very high for anyone taller. I have to use the shoulder area at a different time with me sitting on several cushions for the unit to touch me at all meaning there is too much of a gap between the working parts of the back and shoulder massage part.I cannot see where it is "adjustable" as advertised as I have pressed all the right buttons and it makes no difference, there are no retailers around where I live to have tried it before I bought it as advised by other reviews however when all is said I still find it very useful but it could be better.
I have a desk job by day causing a stressed back and shoulder area and have no bath in my bungalow and really miss a good soak especially after digging down the allotment and although my Tai chi helps strengthen my muscles I needed something to relax them too which is why I bought this product and am 90% satisfied .
