+ How can I pay for Home Insurance?

You are able to pay for your home insurance via Direct Debit, Credit or debit card, or alternatively you may spread the cost using your Littlewoods credit account.

+ How much cover do I need?

For building cover this would be the cost to rebuild your home in the event of a total loss, not the value of your house. Littlewoods Home Insurance will offer cover of up to £300,000 to rebuild your home.

For contents cover this would be the value to replace all of those items you would take with you if you moved house, including things such as carpets and curtains. Littlewoods Home Insurance offers cover of up to £40,000 to replace your contents.

It is easy to underestimate the value of your property and its contents, but it is important to ensure you will not be underinsured.

+ Do I get brand new for old replacement?

Yes, should you need to claim under Littlewoods Contents Insurance, and your items cannot be repaired you could receive brand new ones in the event of a claim. If the original is not available it could be replaced with the nearest possible alternative. Please see the policy wording for more details.

+ What is optional Accidental Damage cover?

For an additional cost you can choose to add optional Accidental Damage cover to your Buildings Insurance, your Contents Insurance or both.

Accidental damage can be defined as sudden, unexpected and visible damage which has not been caused on purpose.

Buildings Accidental Damage covers items such as any fixed glass, sanitary fittings or service pipes and cables. For example, if you accidentally broke any of your sanitary ware.

Contents Accidental Damage covers items such as TVs audio equipment, computer equipment in the home as well as events such as spilling red wine on your sofa.

+ What is optional personal belongings cover?

Personal Belongings cover insures your personal effects while in and away from your home. This cover is provided both in the UK and worldwide.

You can choose a level of cover up to £5000. This provides cover for your possessions if they are lost, stolen or accidentally damaged. If you have any portable items that are worth more than £2000 you will need to specify these individually, and these will be covered in addition to the amount of cover level you request. These are known as specified personal belongings and will show separately on your schedule.

+ What is the maximum number of bedrooms that are covered?

Properties with up to 4 bedrooms can be covered. If your property exceeds this unfortunately a quote cannot be provided.

+ Can I choose my excess?

Littlewoods home insurance has a standard policy excess of £100. For subsidence this is £1,000 You can choose to increase this excess up to a maximum of £250; this increase is known as a voluntary excess. Increasing your policy excess may decrease the cost of your insurance; however the value of the excess is the first part of any claim that you would have to pay.
