Optional Home Emergency

Whether its burst pipes or a gas leak, unfortunately, sometimes things go wrong. If you choose to add Home Emergency Cover you'll get emergency assistance to help secure your home should something unexpected happen.

What's Covered
  • Damage or failure to plumbing and drainage
  • Internal electricity failure, gas leaks and failure of water supplies
  • Unexpected damage to roof
  • Overnight accommodation if you’re unable to stay in you're home
What's not covered
  • Repair or replacement of lead pipe work
  • Window locks
  • Boilers that are over 15 years old
  • Internal glass, external garages or outbuildings

Optional Accidental Damage
  • For an additional cost you can choose to add optional Accidental Damage cover to your Buildings Insurance, your Contents Insurance or both.
  • Accidental damage can be defined as sudden, unexpected and visible damage which has not been caused on purpose.
  • Buildings Accidental Damage covers items such as any fixed glass, sanitary fittings or service pipes and cables. For example, if you accidentally broke any of your sanitary ware.
  • Contents Accidental Damage covers items such as TVs audio equipment, computer equipment in the home as well as events such as spilling red wine on your sofa.

Optional Family Legal Protection

If you decide to add Optional Family Legal Protection Cover, you can get up to £50,000 of legal costs, as well as 24/7 access to a team of legal experts.This covers your property rights, but also you as an individual.

What's Covered
  • Disputes relating to property rights, including boundary disputes and noisy neighbours.
  • Personal injury claims relating to you or any other permanent resident in your home.
  • Fees associated with recovering your identity following identity theft.
What's not covered
  • Any damages or fines you are ordered to pay by a court.
  • Any offence relating to a motor bike / vehicle.
  • Any claim involving medical or clinical negligence.
  • Disputes with local or government authorities such as planning permission and compulsory purchase.

Optional Personal Possessions

Personal Belongings cover insures your personal effects while in and away from your home. This cover is provided both in the UK and worldwide. You can choose a level of cover up to £5000. This provides cover for your possessions if they are lost, stolen or accidentally damaged. If you have any portable items that are worth more than £2000 you will need to specify these individually, and these will be covered in addition to the amount of cover level you request. These are known as specified personal belongings and will show separately on your schedule.

If you want to view your policy documentation or need to make a change to your policy for example you’re moving home or you’d like to add new items to increase your level of cover there are a number of ways you can do this;

Via ‘My Insurance Account

Step 1 - Log in to My Insurance account by clicking;

Step 2 - Once logged in click on the view my policies link within the ‘My policies’ section
Step 3 - Select manage policy on the right hand side
Step 4 - Select amend my details within the section where you need to make the change and follow the on screen instructions

The changes you make may affect your premium, before you confirm the change you will be notified of any refund or additional premium that is due.

It is important that you notify Littlewoods Home Insurance of any changes. If this is not disclosed this could invalidate your policy and mean that the insurer may not pay out in the event of a claim.

There is no administration charge for making a change to your policy.

If you are unfortunate enough to suffer loss or damage to your home or contents, you should report the incident as soon as reasonably possible.

There are a number of ways you can do this;

Step 1 - Log in to ‘My Insurance account’ by clicking;

Step 2 - Once logged in click on the ‘view my policies’ link within the ‘My policies’ section
Step 3 - Select notify a claim on the right hand side
Step 4 - Enter your claim details and click the ‘submit’ button
Step 5 - Your claim will be submitted and you will be contacted by a specialist claims handler to confirm next steps
