The Nikon D3100 is designed for newcomers to DSLR photography, letting you take beautiful pictures without worrying about complicated functions.

A range of automatic settings means the camera will do the hard work, with Live View with Scene Auto Selector selecting the mode to suit your shooting situation.

Guide Mode also takes you through the process step-by-step of how to get the picture you want, helping you understand how the shot was achieved to develop your photography skills.

The 14.2 megapixel CMOS image sensor, new powerful EXPEED 2 processing engine and a wide range of NIKKOR lenses deliver amazing detail.

The Nikon D3100 has ISO 100-3200 sensitivity (Hi1: 6400, Hi2: 12800), reducing the risk of blurred images when taking pictures even in low light or of high-motion subjects.

Use the easy-access movie record button to switch to video mode and the D-Movie function allows you to record full 1080p HD movie clips at 24fps with sound.

You can use a variety of NIKKOR lenses to create cinematic effects, or make simple edits of your clips in-camera. The 11-point auto-focus system makes sure everything is in focus for razor-sharp images of even the most fleeting of movements.

i'm using it to get back into some photo taking, the settings are nice and varied and although its been years since i last picked up an SLR (and it was just an SLR no D in there!) i found the interface easy to get along with and it felt like i hadn't been away

Comments about Nikon D3100 14.2 Megapixel Digital Camera Double Lens Kit:

Having been put off from DSLR in the past due the complicated technique terms and the price, I finally bite the bullet and purchased the D3100 with twin lens kits.

This kit has all you need to get started. I subscribed to the Nikon magazine on my iPad, you can also get it in print, and downloaded the dummy guide to my iPad, both explain in simple terms what the functions are and only a few weeks in i am taking great shots.

I have explored out of the 'AUTO' function, and it isn't as scary as i thought!
I would highly recommend this camera for people new to DSLR as the tutorial function on the camera is great for people starting out, it teaches you the functions and different settings.

Along with the Nikon magazine, online tutorials and youtube, there is loads of advice available.
