Comments about Sony SLT-A65VK 24.3 Megapixel Translucent Mirror interchangeable Lens Camera:
I bought the Sony SLT A65 Camera as an upgrade from my previous DSLR which is a Sony A350.
Before buying I did quite a bit of online research where I was comparing the A65 against the Nikon D7000, the other DSLR which I was considering. You will find an equal number of reviews that put either of the two cameras ahead of the other depending on the reviewers personal preference, but they are a useful way to learn about each of the cameras features.
I use my camera primarily outdoors, landscapes, wildlife photography and the like and the D7000 unlike the A65 has a sealed body which would be perfect for this (however my A350 was not sealed & used for many years outdoors with no issues). The D7000 has been on the market for some years now and although still a very capable DSLR I thought the A65 had some nice features such as the ability to tilt the LCD screen and was a more upto date camera. This tilting LCD screen was my reason for buying the A350 as it's really useful when trying to get a shot at ground level for Macro work or just to add an alternate perspective to your photo. Other considerations for me are 10fps with the Sony and 6fps with the Nikon, EVF Electronic View Finder which you will either love or hate but the quaility of the EVF on the A65 is probably the best you will find. This allows you to see any changes you wish to make to your photo like adjusting white balance or by using any of the multiple built in effects, before actually taking the photo. There are too many features on this camera to include all of them here, and they're all good and usable for a variety of conditions. I have noticed that some reviews note that the A65 struggles in low light conditions, I have experimented with this and so far am very pleased with the results. I suspect that unless you are a professional most amateur photographers will be very pleased with the performance in low light and should not be put off for this reason.
Ultimately my reason for choosing the Sony over the Nikon as both cameras excel in diferent ways, was that I already own several Sony fit lenses, these also tend to be cheaper than Nikon as the image stabilisation is in the camera body on the Sony and not the lens like Nikon, something to consider when working to a budget.
I have been out several times since aquiring the A65 and for me it really is an excellent camera that has re-enthused my interest in photography.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Sony SLT-A65VK 24.3 Megapixel Translucent Mirror interchangeable Lens Camera:
This camera is excellent. With a small amount of sharpening of the raw images, using the included, Sony software, results are equivalent to a medium format camera.
