This is really important to think about when you're considering buying a pushchair. If you use the bus or train a lot, or if you need to go up and down stairs a lot, then you're going to need a pushchair that's both lightweight and foldable. On the other hand, if you're always zipping around in the car, you need to consider whether the pushchair you're buying will fit in to your boot (along with all the other stuff you'll need to take with you!). A multi-function travel system is a good solution if you mostly travel by car.
You also need to think about where you're going to store the pushchair. It's no good getting one that everyone's going to end up tripping over at home, so make sure it'll slot away neatly in your hall, kitchen, bedroom or porch.
Next you need to think about what age you'll need the pushchair from. If it's for your newborn, the pushchair needs a full lie back position, or you may want to think about a carrycot or pram as an alternative. You might also want to think about getting a model that will adapt as your child grows. This will save you having to buy a new one later on.
The most important thing is making sure baby's comfortable, cosy and warm, so head huggers, foot muffs etc. are a really good buy. And don't forget your rain cover - this is an essential bit of baby kit as it'll protect baby from the unpredictable Great British weather!
Colour is all about personal taste, but a couple of things you might want to think about are i) would you be able to use the pushchair again if you have more kids in the future and ii) how practical is it to keep clean.
Strollers are light weight, compact and have a great easy fold mechanism. They're perfect for holidays or nipping down the shops. Many strollers have a multi position lie back so your little one can have a nap while you're out and about. Most strollers are suitable from 6 months.
Buggies are the most popular everyday option. They have sturdy frames and robust wheels plus great suspension for a comfy ride. This option is suitable from birth as buggies feature a full recline, comfy padded seats and loads more extras.
Parent facing pushchairs mean the seat unit can be turned to face the pushing parent. This means that baby can interact with mum or dad while being pushed and it also enables you to keep an eye on your little one.
The travel system is your all-in-one, do-everything pushchair. Taking your baby from birth to toddler, this is a great option for both your baby and your budget!
These pushchairs offer the flexibility to be forward or rear facing and many can be used as a pram by adding a carry cot. Some models even come complete with carrycot.
The big feature of a travel system is it can be used with a car seat, so baby can be transferred from car to pushchair in one easy click. Don't forget to check if adaptors are included.
A traditional option that has had some modern updates, prams can be used both parent or forward facing. Either way, you will be able to keep an eye on your little one and have great interaction as you move around.
Most modern prams feature multiple recline in pushchair mode plus fixed or swivel wheels to help you move around a lot easier. Co-ordinating fabric hood and boot covers mean you get that traditional pram look too! All prams are suitable from birth.
If you've got two small children, a twin or tandem pushchair is probably the best option for you.
For carrying two children side by side, twin buggies are a popular choice. Many models feature independent recline and separate hoods and, as with single buggies, twins have a compact fold. Many models are suitable from birth.
Tandems are great for transporting your baby and toddler with one seat in front of the other. The front seat can be used for the older child and the back seat from birth.
Accessories are where you can have some fun customising your pushchair. There are loads of changing bags, parasols, rain covers and fleeced lined footmuffs - we've got the lot. But don't forget to check what's included with your pushchair as many models come with accessories.
All of our pushchairs meet the latest safety tests and requirements. We only offer fully tested designs and ensure that every pushchair we sell is tested for strength, durability and most importantly safety. This includes testing them on a slope for stability.
We know it's a temptation but pushchairs are not designed to carry shopping bags from the handles - there's a danger that the pushchair could tip up with the baby still inside. Most modern pushchairs include compartments beneath the chasis that are ideal for carrying shopping.
To keep your pushchair working at its best, it is important that you keep it clean and lubricated. Rinse the wheels and locks every so often to ensure they don't get clogged with dirt. All of our fabrics can be cleaned with a damp cloth and some models feature removable seat units so they can be cleaned more thoroughly.
